Chile · Escondida mine — 18,500 m of fabric, 2024. Haul-truck operators work at altitude in a laundry programme that washes garments on a fixed cycle, so the retroreflective requirement had to hold at the end of the garment's life.
NVR-FR200 fabric, NVR-PT50 piping and NVR-HTV100 heat transfer vinyl went into 4,200 garments. The wash validation was run to the mine's own cycle rather than to the standard's minimum.
The 50-wash validation passed at 62 cycles, and that result set the tender specification for the next three years. The material was not the variable — the laundry cycle was, which is why we tested to theirs.
